This event is open to everyone and is designed to give combinations the experience of jumping a fun and interesting course and enjoy their horses and ponies in the flat and in hand classes.

The aims of the events are big smiles and happy equine. Everyone is welcome and extra entries will be taken on the day if time allows for those who have already entered.  Please enter and compete with a positive attitude.  We aim to keep things simple, please ensure that your actions and approach does too.

Arena Eventing Run under normally recognised Competition, Pony Club and Arena Eventing rules. The Judge’s decision is final. Any suitable safe tack may be worn for the Arena eventing

Correct riding attire, XC colours can be worn,  hats and body protectors up to current standard must be worn. Baton type whips only.  All the fences will be  show jumps and working hunter type fences. Young riders are welcome but their safety and ability to compete is solely the parent/guardian’s responsibility.

4 faults for a pole/ ball knocked off or refusal at fences. Three refusals or fall or horse /pony/rider elimination. The show jumping section of the course will be jumped first and be timed. The working hunter eventing part has no time.

Classes 2-8 are open to all ages and may be split if sufficient entries.

Ponies / horses can only be entered in a maximum of 3 jumping classes

Class 5                       Hoof and Woof half the course on your pony before getting off and running and jumping over the rest of the course with your dog  Fences approx. 50cms

 There will be a points system run over all the shows and the Champions in each section will be awarded at the last show of the season. There will be an over all champion for Senior, Junior and In-hand showing presented at the September Finals

 

Senior  Showing Classes  9.30 am  start  £10 per entry-  Rosettes to 6th place

Class 10                Concours d’Élégance   Concours d’Élégance dress / costume or traditional jacket/shirt/stock etc. To be judged on the elegance and overall picture of the turnout. Side saddle or                                                                             astride. Walk only in initial go round. Lead Rein welcome *

Class 11                    Novice Riders 18 Years old or over genuine novice riders on ponies or horses, no canter in the group, optional in individual show. Any suitable bridle, martingales allowed

Class 12                     Open Ridden Horse  Astride or side saddle. Hunter, cob, maxi cob, riding horse, hack types, SRT, racehorse etc. to be judged on the correctness of type, conformation and way                                                                         of  going *

Class 13                     Style and Appearance  *  Riders 18 years old and over, any type of horse or pony. To be judged on overall appearance/turnout and effectiveness of the rider. The class will                                                                                        walk, trot & canter as a group then each entry will be required to do a short individual show including something “a bit special” eg rein back, serpentine

Class 14                     Ridden Veteran 15 years old or over *

Class 15                    Ridden Coloured Any type, height/traditional/hogged/plaited, Rider any age E *

Class 16                    Ridden Mountain and Moorland  E *       (May be split small / large breeds, Junior and lead rein at the judge’s discretion)

Junior Showing Classes  12 noon start  £10 per entry-  Rosettes to 6th place

Class 17                    Lead Rein riders 10 years old or under   E *       Bottle of fizz for the Best Dressed Leader. Lead reins to be attached to the noseband only. To be judged on the ability of the                                                                                                                          emergent rider and the suitability of the pony for its jockey

Class 18                    Just Off the Lead Rein walk and trot as a group, optional canter strides in individual show. Assistant may accompany the rider but no lead rein attached. Riders 11 years old or                                                                              under *

Class 19                    First Ridden Riders 12 years and under, canter in individual show only E *

Class 20                    Best Trick Ride with one hand, round the world etc riders 10 years old or under on show day LR/FR welcome  

Class 21                    Novice Riders 17 years old or under, Genuine novice riders riding horses or ponies.   No canter in the group. Canter optional in individual show. Any suitable bridle, martingales                                                              allowed. No lead reins

Class 22                     Ridden Show Pony/ Show Hunter Pony/ Part Bred mare or gelding not exceeding 153cms, rider to be suitable age and size for the pony they ride. E *

Class 23                    Style and Appearance  *  Riders 17 years old and under, any type of horse or pony. To be judged on overall appearance/turnout and effectiveness of the rider. Class 31                     Child Handler 8 years old or under (may be accompanied) *

Class 32                     Coloured  any type. Piebald, skewbald E *

Class 33                     Fancy Dress mounted or in hand open to all to be judged approx. 3pm              

Notes

  • The Judge’s decision is final
  • All ages are as on 1st January in the current year unless stated otherwise
  • Any suitable safe tack may be worn for the Arena eventing.
  • Correct and appropriate tack to be used for the showing classes and lead reins must be attached to the noseband and not the bit. Handles on saddles are allowed LR/FR
  • First Aiders are on site
  • All competitors attend and compete at their own risk and must carry 3rd party insurance.
  • All ridden exhibits to be 4 years old or over
  • Young riders are welcome but their safety and ability to compete is solely the parent/guardian’s responsibility.
  • Classes will not start before times started but may start later
  • Every effort had been made to avoid classes clashing and competitors are asked to consider this when entering. Please speak to the ring steward if you see clashes occurring and we will try to accommodate the best we can. Much depends on the number of entries
  • All horses and ponies must have a valid up to date yearly equine influenza vaccination and passports must be carried with the correct horse & Pony by law when travelling
  • Anyone in breach of animal welfare or abuse to anyone on site will result in those persons being removed from the site immediately and no refunds for entries made

  • Competitors do not need to be members of any society to take part in any classes or gain qualification to their Championships. For those who would like to qualify, this Show is affiliated to The Showing Register (TSR), Equifest and ESUK 2022
  • This show is affiliated to Equine Sports UK (ESUK) Grassroots Championships taking place at Arena UK, Grantham, Lincolnshire on 28th July – 31st July 2022. The three highest placed exhibits will qualify in each class. Please go to equinesports.uk.co.uk for clarification. All classes marked * are ESUK qualifiers
  • This show is a qualifier for the TSR NAF Five Star Showing Finals. All in-hand and ridden classes are qualifiers. Not the arena eventing. You do not need to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final (Equifest hosts the finals for our area). The rider/handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of finals. The 4 highest placed handlers/riders will qualify in each class. Competitors MUST have their qualification sheet signed by the judge/steward/secretary at the point of qualification.   • This show is affiliated to the 2022 Equifest Showing show taking place at the East of England Showground 18th-20th Qualification cards will not be held by the show secretary, and it is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have a qualification card before entering the show and getting it signed by the judge, steward or show secretary at the time of the qualification. EQUIFEST QUALIFIERS Specific Class wording: The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the relevant Equifest Championship class to be held at the East of England Showground on the 18th – 20th August 2022.

Class 30 EQUIFEST OPEN MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN HAND Open to In Hand Mountain & Moorland ponies registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A, B, C, D. Stallion, mare, colt, filly or gelding, any age. Class may be divided as appropriate.

Class 16 EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A, B, C, D. Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over. Rider any age. Class may be divided as appropriate.

Class 17 EQUIFEST OPEN MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND LEAD REIN Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies, registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Shetland and Welsh A or B. Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st Jan in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a Snaffle Bridle, the lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.

Class 19 EQUIFEST MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND FIRST RIDDEN Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies, registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Shetland, and Welsh A or B. Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be shown in any suitable bridle.

Class 22  EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN SHOW PONIES Open Show Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 148cms. Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.

Class 17 EQUIFEST OPEN SHOW PONY LEAD REIN Leading Rein Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 8th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.

Class 19 EQUIFEST OPEN SHOW PONY FIRST RIDDEN First Ridden Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cm. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be shown in any suitable bridle.

Class 22 EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN SHOW HUNTER PONIES Show Hunter Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 153cms. Riders not to have attained their 20th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.

Class 17 EQUIFEST OPEN SHOW HUNTER PONY- LEAD REIN Show Hunter Pony Lead Rein, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Rider not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st Jan in the current year.

Class 12 EQUIFEST OPEN INTERMEDIATE SHOW RIDING TYPE Open Intermediate Show Riding Type, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 146cms but not exceeding 158cms. Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Class 22 EQUIFEST OPEN INTERMEDIATE SHOW HUNTER TYPE Open Intermediate Show Hunter Type, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms. Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Class 12  EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN HACKS Open Show Hacks, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 160cms. Riders any age

Class 12  EQUIFEST OPEN MAXI COBS Open Maxi Cobs, mare or gelding 4 years old and over, exceeding 155cms – to be judged as Cobs. To be shown hogged and trimmed. Riders any age.

Class 12 EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN HUNTERS Open Ridden Hunter, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, exceeding 153cms. Riders any age.

Class 12 EQUIFEST OPEN SMALL HUNTERS Open Small Hunter, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms. Riders any age.

Class 22 EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN PART BREDS Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Exhibits in this section must be registered in the Part Bred section of their respective Breed Society. Registration numbers must be stated on the entry form. Horses and ponies will not be ridden at the final. Riders any age.

Class 15  EQUIFEST RIDDEN PIEBALD / SKEWBALD Open ridden Piebald / Skewbald stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over. Riders any age. The first three places will also qualify for the BSPA Championship subject to their show rules & conditions. Classes may be divided according to entries.

Class 32  EQUIFEST IN HAND PIEBALD / SKEWBALD Open in Hand Piebald / Skewbald stallion, mare, colt, filly or gelding, any age. The first three places will also qualify for the BSPA Championships subject to their show rules & conditions Classes may be divided according to entries.

Class 17  JUNIOR RIDDEN MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND Mares and geldings, 4 years old & over, registered in the respective pure bred Stud Books of Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland and Welsh Section A,B,C & D. Riders of Small Breeds not to have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Riders of Large Breeds not to have attained their 18th birthday before 1st January in the current year
